In Matthew 22, Jesus uses the Parable of the Wedding Banquet to reveal the heart of God’s invitation to salvation through His Son. The King’s invitation symbolizes God’s grace, extended to all people. Yet, many decline His call—distracted by worldly pursuits or rejecting His authority. The King’s indignation shows the seriousness of rejecting God’s offer of eternal life. The wedding garment represents righteousness; something we cannot manufacture ourselves but must receive through faith in Christ. Ultimately, this parable reminds us that God’s invitation is both gracious and holy; open to everyone, but only those clothed in Christ will enter the celebration.
