We are continuing the conversation and undergoing self-examination. Today we tackle the topic of leadership as a mentality and approach it from the point of service. Trusting God to transform us from the inside out is also a process. I hope you will journal and keep your Bible close as you listen. I pray something you hear will spark new insight and cause you to take action.Â
"Love that goes upward is worship, love that goes outward is affection, love that stoops down is grace." - Donald Barnhouse
Fear, pride, arrogance, and even anger restrain us from becoming servant leaders.Â
Those emotions keep us complacent because we are unwilling to listen to hard criticism or negative feedback. The truth only adds fuel to the emotional fire. One way to combat that is to acknowledge the problem and ask God through prayer to break the chains. (It may require fasting and praying.)
Challenging Action Step:
How can you be intentional about regularly serving others?
Remember, servant leaders, require approval from one source, God. They enjoy pleasing the Lord through their actions, deeds and give Him praise for the opportunity. Let us all strive to be more like Jesus and challenge the Adversary's lies.Â
Points to Ponder from last week's episode "You Are What You Make"Â
1. What do we do when someone asks for a favor?
2. How do we respond to interruptions?Â
3. Why are we continuing the same patterns of behavior and expecting change?
Philippians 4:8, "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."
