Spain’s driving conditions are set to be a mixed bag over the coming days, with temperatures remaining high in many areas but an increasing risk of rain and a drop in temperatures as we head into the weekend and start next week.
Drivers should be mindful of the variable conditions, from clear and sunny spells to potentially slick roads from sudden showers. It’s a time to be extra vigilant and prepared for changes, ensuring you adjust your driving to the conditions.
As we move into the weekend, Friday will see mostly cloudy conditions, with a small risk of light rain, particularly in the evening.
Saturday has a greater chance of rain, and showers may become a little heavier in the evening.
The main change in driving conditions will come on Sunday, with a higher chance of light rain across the country during the day, which will bring down the temperatures a little. When driving in the rain, it is essential to slow down, increase your distance from the vehicle in front, and be aware of the increased risk of skidding and aquaplaning. The first rain after a dry spell can be particularly hazardous as it mixes with oil and road grime, creating a very slick surface.
The start of next week on Monday will be similar to Sunday, with a risk of rain and a drop in temperatures. However, from Tuesday onwards, conditions are expected to improve, with a return to partly cloudy skies and a decrease in the chance of precipitation. Temperatures will remain cooler than the previous week but will gradually start to climb again towards the end of the week. Winds will be relatively light throughout the period, but always be mindful of sudden gusts, especially when passing high-sided vehicles or in exposed areas.
Next weekend looks to be largely dry and sunny. Drivers can expect more stable and pleasant conditions for their journeys, with temperatures continuing their upward trend.
