(2:00) People who had gone through bariatric surgery and who had lost weight would rather have almost any other affliction rather than be morbidly obese again. Vinnie asks Zoe about the claim that meat causes T2 diabetes. (9:00) The idea that meat, which humans have been eating for millennia is causing a modern-day disease (T2D) is absurd. (11:00) Harvard School of Public Health is consistently putting out misinformation based on survey studies. They chat about why they are so inaccurate. Vinnie talks about how some of his consults go. (20:00) He shares with Zoe how he came to make “Beyond Impossible”. (26:45) It was inspired by a deep dive into “reimagined” frankenfood products. He reached out to prominent vegan doctors to get their input, but he was refused by them. Dr. Harcombe reveals that she used to be vegetarian and understands why people do it. (31:00) She mentions the book by Lierre Keith, “”. Vinnie asks her about her experience being vegetarian and vegan. (33:30) She realized that the health problems she was having were prompted by a lack of animal products in her diet. What Is the Endgame?  Vinnie asks what is the endgame for doctors like Walter Willet and others. (48:45) Zoe discusses the importance of ruminants and topsoil in the food supply. If we continue on the path of veganism, we will destroy the planet’s ability to grow crops naturally. Vinnie asks Zoe what is next in her research. (55:20) She clarifies the recent research claim that red meat causes diabetes. People like Walter Willet most likely send such studies for peer review to those who are most likely to agree with him. (1:01:00) She’s written to Walter Willet personally and he refused to answer her questions. Vinnie asks if he and others’ attempts to spread reliable health knowledge are futile. (1:06:00) Dr. Harcombe says there needs to be a bottom-up revolution of getting knowledge out.  He also worries about how meat is being made more expensive and some people have to resort to cheap foods like pasta and rice to feed their families. (1:10:00) They both give suggestions regarding affordable meat options. Vinnie shares an update to his website that you'll want to check out: a VIP section! Go to for more information.
