In this episode we chat with Travis Overstreet, the Roanoke Programs Director at Beyond Boundaries. Born and raised in the beautiful landscapes of western Virginia, Travis developed a deep appreciation for nature from an early age. After high school, he decided to serve his country in the Marine Corps, where he gained an understanding and respect for the diverse lifestyles that shape America. Following his time in the Marines, Travis moved to Richmond, Virginia, immersing himself in veteran programs and finding fulfillment in giving back to his fellow service members. However, Travis wanted to provide even more support and sought to create a positive outlet for veterans through outdoor adventures. Recognizing the transformative power of nature in his own life, Travis invited fellow veterans to join him in activities such as rock climbing, paddling, and hiking, offering them an escape from the confines of traditional social scenes. The great outdoors became a sanctuary for veterans to reset, find solace, and fully embrace the present moment. During this journey Travis crossed paths with Shep at Beyond Boundaries, and together they worked together to enhance the outdoor experiences offered to veterans. Today, Travis serves as the Roanoke Programs Director, dedicating himself to empowering veterans through transformative adventures in nature. If you've ever wondered why a breath of fresh air in nature is essential for everyone, especially those who’ve sacrificed so much for our country, then this one's for you!
