Why Whiskey?

A brief history on the Star Spangled Banner

Listen Later

On this EP of Why Whiskey, I am solo and talking about the National Anthem of the United States of America. Written by Francis Scott Key in 1814, while on a British naval vessel, Key would witness the bombing of Fort McHenry and the beautiful flag that was waving over the fort despite the incredible firepower that was raining down on it. Since that time, the poem turned song had a bumpy ride through the country until being accepted officially as the National Anthem in 1931. Join me and sip some whiskey as we explore the song The Star-Spangled Banner.
