Who are the people being referred to as a called out?

1 Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: 

1 Peter 2:6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. 

1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: 

1 Peter 2:10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. 

Things the bible says about the "people of God"

1. They have a repentant heart Jerimiah 24:7

2. They are Gods house/temple ( 2 Corithians 6:16, Ezekiel 37:27)

3. They are sanctified ( Ezikiel 37:23)

4. They have the laws of God written in their heart( Ezekiel 11:20, Hebews 8:10)

5. They are a people without sorrow ( Revelations 21:3-7)

6. They are a people who Go has an everlasting covenant with (Jerimiah 32:37-41)
