Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up, it knows it must out run the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up, it knows it must run faster then the slowest gazelle, or it will be starve. It doesn't matter whether you are the lion or a gazelle, when the sun comes up you'd better be running. These lines talk of a sense of urgency animals naturally have and thrive upon. We humans on the other hand need to raise it, and rise with it and on occasions even let it drive us or let it control us. Getting up in the morning with a sense of urgency is a necessary condition something we need to welcome. It's the sense of urgency that separates the people who actually achieve their goals from the rest of the world who are motivated, have the desire to achieve their goals but somehow are not close enough to their goals. We all have heard that Patience is Virtue and Slow and Steady wins the race and inch by inch I am gonna be there. All these are fantastic. Sense of urgency is not the opposite of Patience. Sense of urgency is in knowing what is important and doing with a singular focus so they achieve their goals in the shortest amount of time it would take for them. A sense of urgency is not an option, it is a necessity. It is something we must cultivate, recognise and renew everyday. Like the lion if we do not become faster then we lose our sense of purpose and direction. Being faster better, striving to be finer, sharper and ultimately Victorious, is the ultimate purpose of human existence. One has to connect to a sense of urgency, to a burning desire within and with the strength and determination to leave the comfort zone behind. This is a daily battle. Awakening to this reality is the most important thing that defines us in who we become.
