A Change of Heart

Happy New Year!

Thoughts often turn to resolutions and changes and how will I solve all problems this year as a new year begins. And while making change can be good and beneficial, we need to care first for our soul.

Turn to God

A few scriptures from the Old Testament that tell us what God wants to do for us:

  • I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. Ezekiel 36:26
  • My dwelling shall be with them; I will be their God, and they will be my people. Ezekiel 37:27
  • And of course, all of Ezekiel 37 about the dry bones, speaks to what GOd can and will do for us if we but call on Him.
  • Yet, Lord, you are our father; we are the clay and you our potter: we are all the work of your hand. Isiah 64:7

    • God is gentle and wants to help us live a life of abundance, peace and joy. He is mercy, so go to him and ask what in our stony heart needs to go and be replaced by His heart of flesh.

    Repentance

    Consider too, if you need forgiveness for what you have done wrong. God extends His mercy when we ask for it and then we can extend mercy as well.

    Pray about what needs a spiritual makeover in you. Do you need a change of heart?
