I've found over the years that there are two ways to clean out a junk drawer.  One way (that doesn't really work) is just to try to better organize all the useless things that have accumulated over the years.  The other way (and the one I now use exclusively), is to take the drawer out, turn it upside down, and dump everything out in a pile on the floor.  That way, I begin with a clean slate and the only way an item makes it back into the drawer is if it has undeniable value in my life going forward.  Everything else goes into the trash. This chapter of Hebrews encourages us to take a similar approach with our spiritual beliefs and practices, only keeping what is of actual value going forward.
