Film For Your Thoughts

A Clockwork Orange: How To Love A Psychopathic Protagonist

Listen Later

Greetings Cinema Lovers, I’m Andres Benatar, presenting to you with Film For Your Thoughts. Film Your Thoughts is my way of expressing my absolute love for Cinema. Occasionally, I will do reviews covering books, comics, and even the occasional character analysis. It all depends on the character, and believe me, there are plenty I want to talk about.  Film For Your Thoughts can be checked out on my YouTube channel and podcast of the same name. Also, if you want to help this channel grow, then you can check out my Patreon page. I’m keeping the reward to just a one dollar donation to keep things simple, and hopefully if this channel grows, I can include more rewards over time. If not, I’m just happy talking about the greatest artistic contribution to human civilization ever invented. I love cinema, and I want to share that love as well as the intellectual introspection that I find myself committed to every time I see a film and beyond what it presents. To me, films are not just pictures, they’re doors with a big sign saying, “Unlock me.” Thanks for listening, and I hope you all enjoy my ridiculous ranting.

I'm not the first person to comment on how A Clockwork Orange is a film that makes audiences sympathize with a psychopathic protagonist, and I'm certain I won't be the last. I certainly think that because we as an audience choose to root for a monster like Alex Delarge says a lot about the concept of how we value our own individuality and sense of identity, which is the main theme of the film and how it presents a character who despite being inherently evil is at the very least more authentic and human than all the other characters within the film who only behave and even flaunt their moral superiority either out of fear of being met with violence or going against the conventional social norms society forces on us as if that were a display of genuine sincerity. I hope you all enjoy my introspective analysis of this Stanley Kubrick Masterpiece.

Sincerely,

Andres Benatar
