Each of us needs a vision for our lives that will carry us into the next life.
Without such a vision we will certainly perish.
But a vision of this significance does not come cheaply.
You must want it. And you must understand where it comes from.
Just as it was for Paul, to receive a compelling life-vision we must first have a profound vision of the Lord Himself.
Listen to Paul’s response to Jesus when the Lord appeared to Him on the road to Damascus: “So he, trembling and astonished, said, ‘Lord, what do You want me to do?’” (Acts 9:6).
This is an example of the right kind of response to a revelation of Jesus Christ—trembling, astonished, submissive.
Now read Jesus’ response to Paul.
Acts 26:16-18
“I have appeared to you for this purpose, to make you a minister and a witness both of the things which you have seen and of the things which I will yet reveal to you. 17 I will deliver you from the Jewish people, as well as from the Gentiles, to whom I now send you, 18 to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.”
