The Corinthian church was filled with extremely moral people. People who served God and served others. They were active and they were growing and they were gifted. But they were filled with impatience and pettiness and pride and fighting and harshness and dissension. Those kinds of attitudes counteract all of the ministry, all of the giving, all of the good a church could possibly do in the city. Because when outsiders look at us they’re not impressed with our programs or our buildings or even our outreach programs. If they don’t see love - than it is all for nothing.
