Carrie welcomes Registered Nurse Brittany Scheffert to the show today for this conversation episode. Brittany takes us back to the mood in her hospital back in January of 2020, when it finally hit her and her co-workers how serious the virus was, and how quickly things started to escalate. She tells us what it was like learning to treat the virus in real time, the struggles of having to be honest about the uncertainty of it all, and the protective gear Brittany and her co-workers had to wear on a daily basis. Carrie is curious how Brittany balanced going into work and keeping her young child back at home safe. Brittany opens up about the emotional toll of treating patients while also being their support system while their families were unable to visit.
