Running out on your wedding day never goes down well. When the pressure of her forthcoming marriage becomes too much, Jude bolts from the church, leaving a good man at the altar, her mother in a fury, and the guests with enough gossip to last a year.
Guilty and ashamed, Jude flees to Pengarrock, a crumbling cliff-top mansion in Cornwall, where she takes a job cataloguing the Trevillion family's extensive library. The house is a welcome escape for Jude, full of history and secrets, but when its new owner arrives, it's clear that Pengarrock is not beloved by everyone.
As Jude falls under the spell of the house, she learns of a family riddle stemming from a terrible tragedy centuries before, hinting at a lost treasure. And when Pengarrock is put up for sale, it seems that time is running out for the house and for Jude.

Really good story
This was a really good story that never in any way dragged and kept me interested to the very end.. Most of the different characters were portrayed very well.
Easy Listening
Pleasant story a bit predictable .
American accent grated at first but did get used to it- didn't like the men's voices not at all sexy just gruff.
Expensive for 13.99 would have liked a bit more substance for that price.
Enjoyable
Not great literature but a good story that kept my attention and I felt involved in from the beginning. I love Cornwall and Liz Fenwick writes well about an area I know and care about.
A better class of chick-lit
Was expecting this to be easy listening and unchallenging, and though it was both of these, it was also a more sophisticated story, better written and better performed than I had been expecting.
Difficult to rate
Superb narration. Story would make a good film. Rather more Corny than Cornish. Many cliches. Characters superficial descriptions & they lacked depth - the people seemed rather bland to me. Treasure hunt scenarios could have been descriptively ,dramatically embellished; that's why I think a film of it would bring the fury & beauty of the Cornish Coast to life. The story theme was quite good. Shame.
