"A Crown of Everlasting Joy"

Isaiah 35:9-10

New Living Translation

9 Lions will not lurk along its course, nor any other ferocious beasts. There will be no other dangers. Only the redeemed will walk on it. 10 Those who have been ransomed by the Lord

will return. They will enter Jerusalem[a] singing crowned with everlasting joy. Sorrow and mourning will disappear, and they will be filled with joy and gladness.

Isaiah 35:9-10 states, “No lion will be there, nor will any ferocious beast get up on it; they will not be found there. But only the redeemed will walk there, and those the Lord has

rescued will return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.”

In this passage, Isaiah speaks of a future hope and restoration for God’s people. The imagery of a safe place devoid of danger reflects the peace and security found in God's kingdom. The "redeemed" signifies those who have been saved by God’s grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9). The joy described here is not fleeting; it is everlasting, highlighting the eternal nature of our salvation and relationship with God.

As we reflect on this passage, consider how we are called to share this hope with others, especially in times of hardship. The joy that overtakes us can be a powerful testimony of

God’s promises and faithfulness.
