I’m currently learning how to live slowly. Take things in my stride and not overthink/overcomplicate what’s in front of me. 

I have had the privilege of being able to travel on my own. From that experience, one of the biggest lessons I learned was that having time and no one else’s thoughts or opinions clouding my own, means that I can actually take notice of what feelings come up in me depending on what I’m doing/who I am around. It has meant that I am able to love and look after myself in a much better way because I know myself better!!

Today I talk about self esteem. Having self esteem has not always been something I’ve had the privilege of experiencing. I’ve worked hard and managed to build a more secure base of self love for myself over the last few years but I do find myself still in spirals of doubt or convincing myself I’m not capable. 

This shows up ten fold in dating for me. Something I know others also experience. Almost like me in isolation, on my own and single, is fine. I am secure in myself and my capabilities, I’m fine with pushing myself and getting rejected by job opportunities or new friends because I am able to detach my self worth from that situation. However, the minute someone is placed in the ‘potential boyfriend’ category, I lose sight completely! Im working through it, as you see in this episode, but I wanted to share as it is a genuine thing I’m currently navigating and that’s what this podcast is all about. I hope you enjoy ♡ 

‘There is no time like the present.’ 

Possibly one of the most overused sayings… but I cannot argue with it! 

I find myself talking myself out of so many decisions and ideas that honestly wouldn’t cost me much to explore, because I’m scared I don’t know enough/ scared of getting it wrong/ scared of feeling embarrassed or ashamed. I don’t judge myself for doing this, I know I do it because I am trying to protect myself from pain and rejection, but I am starting to realise that there is no bigger pain than not doing something and thinking: ‘what would that have been like?’ Because you never give yourself the chance to explore it.

Ok this weeks episode is very vulnerable. 

I explore my overthinking tendencies and how this shows up in my life. One of the ways this shows up, is in the belief that I am ‘too much’ for others. That my presence is too much and that I need to dim myself down to be able to fit in and connect with others. However, all this has done has encouraged me to connect to the wrong people. People that don’t align with me. That’s not to say these people in my past have been bad or wrong in any way, but I have been the one to lose out because I have been altering myself to fit in when, if I had stayed authentic to myself, I would have eventually found connections that align with who I actually am! It’s a very scary prospect though because staying true to yourself puts you in a position of being rejected and that is a scary thought. But I’m trying to work through my relationship with that. 

This episode is definitely a daunting one to share but FUCK IT, I don’t get a second chance at this life and I know that by sharing this, I will strengthen the courage I need to keep being ME.

Dating… Everyones favourite topic to gossip about but not so favourite topic to navigate :)

I wanted to make an episode on dating because I have always found dating, meeting new people, experiencing myself in different environments, to be something that has taught me SO MUCH about myself. The fact you are opening yourself to be more intimate and vulnerable with another person teaches you a lot about how you react to certain situations that you would not have experienced when you were single. 

However, I have definitely found that dating feels quite unnatural? It can sometimes feel like a game and that people don’t have much consideration for others’ feelings. AND I sense a lack of authenticity from people almost because of a fear of being rejected/for being seen for who you truly are… Which is a beautifully flawed human being!? :D

It’s been a rollercoaster so far and I thought I would just waffle on a bit about it in the hopes that someone may understand what it is I’m experiencing! :)

This is the basis of todays episode. 

One of my teachers, Ethan, on my counselling course mentioned Edith Eger and her work as a psychotherapist after surviving the holocaust. He quoted the above and it impacted me so deeply. 

I am naturally someone who craves love and validation from outside of myself and that has been the cause of much pain in my life. Hearing something like this almost gives me permission to be ME. I struggle to explain it in any other way than this. 

I think the idea that if I was stripped of everything material in my life and was left with just myself, I would genuinely be happy. That is SO POWERFUL.

In todays episode, I explore the relationship we have with our bodies. 

I have personally noticed how misaligned from my own body I have been and how much I have ignored the signs it has desperately tried to communicate to me. It is a trait that I feel many of us have experienced, and not something I criticise at all, because I think that life is simply too busy for us to take a breather and check in with ourselves. So this is the invite to BREATHE. 

Our bodies are a strong and powerful shell that allow us to experience this beautiful world. We need to remind ourselves of how lucky we are to have able, healthy bodies that support us throughout this wonderful life. We need to treat it with love and grace, even when it feels like its working against us… It’s not. It’s doing it’s best to work for you ♡ 

In this episode, I share my feelings around being a Gen Z(er) and how sometimes the general narrative around us can be quite tiring to hear. This episode is definitely more of a personal one and somewhat niche, so do bear with me! At the end, I share some of the methods I have found useful: Whether that’s the people online I like to follow, or approaches I take to try to connect myself to others more… as the loneliness can sometimes get quite overwhelming!
