Delightful!
I really enjoyed this story. The Hero is indeed dark & brooding but has a kind & loving heart, the heroine is loyal, passionate & courageous. I loved how their passion for each other sparked & grew, how they got closer & closer to each other, the pace their relationship developed, the way he had this "gut feeling" it was right & trusted her, despite all the outward signs that she was a thief (she was being blackmailed). The only reason I didn't give this book 5 stars is because of the ending: did not care for the secret society, heroine being tied to a cross, Hero becoming the leader of the secret society etc. It was surprising that after all this secret society did to the heroine, Hero still becomes their leader. Just too much. I kind of felt like the story was wonderful all the way till the end. In the end it was kind of weak. I also felt the same way about "A Wicked Liaison" by Margaret McPhee: also building up great & ending kind of weak. But nonetheless I still loved it!
Interesting-Intriguing
Will now to find the rest of Margaret McPhee's books. My only complaint is the endings excessive n overblown love declarations, sounds more like they're trying to convince them selves. The love had already been spoken and shown, quite adequately. I recommend this book.
Dark and Brooding Gentlemen
This book was definitely a great read. I have read this novelist books before but I believe this is one of her best work.
a dark and brooding book
well written. just dark. especially the secret society ending, complete with heroine on cross with black robed members kneeling and kissing master's (hero's) ring. story and characters left me with a rather yucky feeling.
outstanding love the ending
It was a great book to keep my interest and hard to put down. I look forward to read more Margaret's books
