Ever felt like reprogramming your partner? A Microsoft spin-off company in China has created an AI boyfriend that people can design, interact with on social media and change whenever they like.

The AI, called Xiaoice, can text — and even speak — but winning your heart isn’t the chatbot’s ultimate goal.

Zhang Shixuan went on a date with Xiaoice, and came back with a story about machine learning, smart devices, and an AI which loves snackfoods.
