Today, we’re diving deep into cultural appropriation and exploring what it is. Amongst all my conversations on cultural appropriation, I’ve often noticed that many misunderstand it’s definition or confuse it with cultural appreciation. So through this episode, I wish to clearly explain what cultural appropriation is and explain why people get offended by those who are culturally appropriating. I discuss why non-Natives can’t wear war bonnets, why people can’t profit off of other people's culture, and the reason why certain aspects of the Black community are only reserved for Black people. Through this, I hope to inform people about cultural appropriation and what separates cultural appreciation from appropriation.
