A young brilliant chemist, a black woman, in 1915 develops a cure for leprosy. After her untimely death in 1916 the University president where she worked publishes her findings as his own and names it the "Dean method". He was celebrated and recognized for this treatment until the truth was revealed in the year 2000. I wrote about this in my latest blog and some readers were more concerned that I pointed out that the young chemist was black than they were about the theft of her legacy. Their sentiment was that I was playing the race card and promoting division merely by mentioning her race. In this episodes deep dive I am exploring the concept of being colorblind.
