Alana Roper has a really powerful story to share. In April 2017, Alana's darling little boy Ozzie was diagnosed with leukaemia. He was two years of age.

Alana wrote to us via our Facebook page introducing herself as "a different sort of ‘bossy boots".

"I may not be a typical woman in business, however, the true power in an oncology mum is something else."

In this special episode of Miss Bossy Boots, Alana shares her journey from Ozzie's initial diagnosis through to where the family are today.

This is a story of resilience and love. Alana wanted to share her story to be the voice of so many families that are living with childhood cancers or who have lost children to cancer.

She says that while leukaemias are the most common type of cancer diagnosed among Australian children, accounting for around one third (33%) of all cases, this is not a topic that gets a lot of airtime. As a result, childhood cancers don't tend to receive as much funding. If it's out of sight, it's out of mind.
