Parks is Associate Dean for Research, Interdisciplinary Scholarship and Programming for the College or Arts and Humanities, an associate professor of American Studies at the University of Maryland at College Park. She is the author of "Fierce Angels: The Strong Black Woman in American Life and Culture," and a contributor to "Roughly Speaking."
