On the February 25 episode of Raw, 2008 WWE Hall of Fame Inductee Ric Flair challenged Shawn Michaels to a match at WrestleMania.[40] Michaels accepted after some reluctance, knowing that due to a previous announcement from WWE chairman Mr. McMahon the next match Flair lost would result in his forced retirement. Flair said that "it would be an honor for [him] to retire at the hands of Shawn Michaels."Ric Flair's "Career Threatening" match against Shawn Michaels was next, which stipulated that Flair would have to retire from wrestling if he had lost. At the start of the match, both superstars engaged in a series of counters, and then Flair shoved Michaels in a corner, making "Old Yeller" comments to him. In retaliation, Michaels slapped Flair in the face, which caused him to start bleeding from the mouth. Later, Michaels attempted Sweet Chin Music, but stopped in the process and Flair capitalized by trapping him in his figure four leglock. Afterward, Michaels finally delivered the Sweet Chin Music to Flair for a near-fall. Michaels then trapped Flair in his modified figure four leglock, but Flair delivered a thumb to the eye to Michaels to break the submission. As Flair was delivering chops to Michaels' chest, Michaels executed a second Sweet Chin Music. After getting up on his feet with a worried face, Michaels said to Flair "I'm sorry, I love you", before nailing a final Sweet Chin Music and thus pinning Flair to end his 35-year-long wrestling career. After the match, Michaels left quickly and Flair got a standing ovation from the crowd. An emotional Flair embraced his family at ringside and then, as he proceeded to go backstage, he thanked the crowd for their support.

The main event was a No Disqualification match between Kevin Nash and Goldberg for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. Michael Buffer did the introductions for the bout and incorrectly announced Goldberg as having a 174–0 record despite it being 173–0. The match started back and forth. Nash attacked Goldberg in the corner, but Goldberg pushed him down, and applied the ankle lock. Goldberg attacked Nash in the corner, but Nash sent him into the turnbuckle. Nash performed a corner foot choke, and attempted a big boot. Goldberg ducked, and performed a spear. As Goldberg was about to perform a Jackhammer, Nash performed a low blow. Nash performed a sidewalk slam, and attacked Goldberg's back. Goldberg fought back with a swinging neckbreaker and a superkick. After Goldberg performed a front powerslam and a spinning heel kick, Disco Inferno and Bam Bam Bigelow came out to attack Goldberg. Goldberg performed a spear to Inferno, and sent Bigelow out of the ring with a clothesline. As Goldberg was about to perform a spear to Nash, Scott Hall shocked Goldberg with a stun gun. Nash performed a Jackknife Powerbomb to Goldberg, and pinned him to win the match and the title, and thus ending Goldberg's streak 173–1.

he main event was a Hell in a Cell match for the WWF Championship, in which WWF Champion Triple H defended his championship against Cactus Jack, with the added stipulation that if Jack lost he would have to retire from professional wrestling. The match began inside a structure of metal surrounding the ring and ringside area. Throughout the match, many weapons were employed, such as steel chairs and a 2x4 with barbed wire wrapped around it (the 2x4 was also set on fire later in the match). When the ring steps were repeatedly thrown against the wall of the cell, it tore open and Cactus Jack jumped through it to the outside of the cage. The men fought first on the announcers' table with Jack piledriving Triple H on it, and later both men wrestled on the top of the cage. While on top of the cell, Cactus Jack attempted a Piledriver, but the move was reversed and Triple H backdropped him onto the cell roof. The move broke the cell roof and Cactus Jack fell through to the mat below, buckling the surface of the ring. After Jack stood up again, Triple H performed the Pedigree on him. He then covered Cactus Jack for a successful pin to win the match.

The 1997 Royal Rumble was the 10th annual Royal Rumble professional wrestlingpay-per-view (PPV) event produced by the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE). It took place on January 19, 1997, from the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. As has been customary since 1993, the Royal Rumble match winner received a world championship match at that year's WrestleMania. For the 1997 event, the winner received a match for the WWF Championship at WrestleMania 13. The main event saw Shawn Michaels defeat Sycho Sid to win the WWF Championship. The main match on the undercard was the 1997 Royal Rumble match, which Stone Cold Steve Austin won after last eliminating Bret Hart. Additionally, Vader defeated The Undertaker, and Hunter Hearst Helmsley defeated Goldust to retain the WWF Intercontinental Championship.

The attendance of 60,477 is the highest recorded live crowd in the Royal Rumble's history with the 2017 edition of the event held at the same venue being the second largest. In addition to hometown hero Shawn Michaels going for the WWF championship, the WWF was working with the Mexico based Lucha Libre AAA World Wide (AAA) promotion, and had several wrestlers from that company participate in the Royal Rumble match, as well as in a number of undercard matches.

Badd Blood: In Your House was a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE). It was the 18th In Your House event and inaugural Bad Blood and it took place on October 5, 1997, at the Kiel Center in St. Louis, Missouri. Seven matches were contested at the event.

The event was notable as it featured the promotion's first-ever Hell in a Cell match, which pitted The Undertaker against Shawn Michaels and saw the debut of Undertaker's storyline brother Kane, who interfered in that match by hitting the "Tombstone Piledriver" on the Undertaker, which allowed Michaels to win and become the number one contender for the WWF Championship against reigning champion Bret Hart at Survivor Series. The show would also mark the last time Vince McMahon was featured as the chief broadcaster of the commentating team for a pay-per-view event and started his career as an on-screen professional wrestler using a gimmick known by the ring name Mr. McMahon, based on his real life persona. According to WWE, the Montreal Screwjob, which took place at Survivor Series 1997, is considered the beginning of the Attitude Era.[3] Thus, Badd Blood: In Your House was the last WWF PPV of the New Generation Era.

An amazing singles match between Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho. The match started and already Michaels suffered kayfabe cracked ribs and internal bleeding. During the match Jericho executed an elbow to Michaels' right eye. Michaels was bleeding for the remainder of the match. Lance Cadealso interfered and executed many cheap shots on Michaels while the referee's back was turned. After Jericho executed many shots on Michaels' face the referee deemed Michaels unable to continue, therefore Jericho was declared the winner.

This month we are looking at Starcade 1997! One of the most controversial matches in WCW History! The main event was between #Hollywood #Hogan and #Sting for the #WCW World Heavyweight #Championship, with Hogan representing the #nWo and Sting representing WCW. The match culminated a year-long buildup of their #feud.
