A FISH OUT OF WATER
Just discovered this delightful series for parents, grandparents, and their young children. In the second book, Artt's grandpa has just finished reading him a bedtime story. The fish on his mobile gets the idea he would like to swim and jump like the fish in that story. So clever Artt devises a plan to get Bart outside to make his wish come true.
Illustrations in this book are large, simple and bright which make them perfect for toddlers and preschoolers. The text is appropriate and pairs well with the pictures. I just love the glasses Artt wears. As a bonus, the author supplies a list of developmental milestones appropriate for an eight month old child like Artt in this story. This series promises to be one that is fun for young children and informative for their caretakers. I recommend that you take a look.
Entertaining and helpful
Second in The Artt of Early Learning Series, Smart Artt is at it again.
Artt is now home from the hospital fast asleep in his crib after grandpa read him a story.
No sooner has grandpa left the room Artt was awakened by his toy mobile, a fish named Bart, who asked, "Which way to the river?" Artt doesn't believe Bart is a real fish and tells him so. Bart wants to be a real fish so he can sparkle in the sunshine just like the fish in grandpa's story, therefore, causing Artt to go on an adventure with Bart.
He is discovered being missing from his crib and everyone in the house starts looking for Artt. Where did Smart Artt go? Does anyone ever find him? You'll find this out and more when you read the book.
The series is being developed for both parent and child to assist parents in the development of their child. It gives parents a guide of what to look for at this stage (age nine months) in development and abilities of the child, such as, "moving an object from one hand to another, or picking up small items like cereal." Children benefit by parents reading to them, engaging their cognition, reflexes, and overall development.
The book further provides a few pointers in promoting growth and development.
I will be recommending this series to all of the new mom's I know! :)
I just downloaded this book this afternoon and read it to my two year old. He really liked it. What I loved about it was that while the kids get to enjoy story time, parents are learning about their child's developmental milestones. The author includes a section for the parents that details what milestones to expect at a certain age. I think this is a theme that is carried on throughout the series.
