Today’s message is the first in a sermon series based on I am a Church Member by Thom S. Rainer. According to Rainer, the first step of being a church member is to function like a member of the church, which means working with others towards the major goals of the worldwide and local church. The Apostle Paul, in 1 Corinthians 12:4-7, 12, 14-27, talks about members of the church like different body parts: each body part does something different, but we need all of the parts working together to accomplish anything. Today, Pastor David Cartwright asks us to consider what our own role in the church is and whether we’re functioning successfully in that role.
