A Good Mom [Mother’s Day Message]
Main Idea: The Virgin Mary.
Being a mother is probably one of the hardest jobs in the world. Not only is there a nine month long commitment just to get started, but the life of a mother is full of struggle in the midst of joy. I feel like moms are often like sunflowers. As they stand in the full heat and harshness of the sun and elements, they somehow make it look easy and beautiful.
The Virgin Mary is probably the most well known mother in history. So much so, in certain denominations and religions she is borderline worshiped and idolized. I think what is most extraordinary about her is the fact that she did not view herself as the “best” mom. In fact, i’m sure that she had days and moments that she doubted if she was even a “good” mom.
Today, we are going to unpack Mary’s story to analyze her humility and humanity. We are going to use her as an example in motherhood but also see how we all can relate and learn from her when it comes to handling insecurities in the midst of living out our purposes.
