She crossed the world to marry a stranger
When Elizabeth Morton's father asks her to travel to the other side of the world to marry a man she's never met, she is stunned. It's 1920 and a woman has rights. But her choices are removed when she is raped by her brother-in-law and thrown out of her own home by her sister.
When Michael Winterbourne wakes with a hangover after his engagement celebrations, he is about to be the cause of a terrible tragedy that will destroy his family, turn his life upside down and catapult him into leaving England.
Elizabeth, born into a prosperous family, and Michael, a miner, come from different worlds. They would never have met but the SS Historic, bound for Sydney, is a ship with only one class.
Falling in love should have been the end to all their troubles. But fate and the mysterious Jack Kidd make sure it's only the beginning.

The journey of finding courage and love.
This story begins in England with Micheal and Sarah seeking new beginnings. A tale of betrayal, murder, and travel, it was a novel relating the time between WW1 and WW11. The inability of both to follow their dreams gave depth and anguish to each. Sarah found courage to face the day she would not have chosen but was forced to live. She found good in her life, adapting to continual change. Well-written and read in two days. The only comment I have would be to put an extra space when another the story changes character. I received this free book to read and review.
I loved the storyline and the time frame it was written ...
What a delightful surprise. I loved the storyline and the time frame it was written in. A time of dishevel and change for the world that was reflected in the characters lives. It took strength of character to live during the rebuilding of the world after the Great War and it tore families apart. The migration of people looking for better lives took them to different countries. I expected the usual blah, blah love story. Instead, I found the undercurrents of a family torn apart by tragedy and buried deep within each surviving member. The story is about the missed opportunity love of two people but deeper than that it is the story of a family and the tragedy that befell them. Yes, the editing could use a lot of work. It was distracting. But the storyline held true.
A Woman's Journey Indeed!
I was not prepared for all the twists and turns of this novel but it certainly kept me reading long into the AM many a night. We hope that these arrangements are not made in this modern world but really, do we know? I was disappointed in the book, not because of characters, or story lines, or events but because it took so long for Elizabeth to finally find her true love and "live happily every after". I have bought Letters from a Patchwork Quilt and am excited to start reading it. I doubt that I will be disappointed.
Journey with Many Side roads
Very original heart warming story. Combines wonderful character . The characters are fleshed out being alive with Good detail. This allows the reader to feel/care for the characters. The plot was extremely interesting reflecting the time period and behavioral standards in the developing Australia. I definitely would enjoy reading this again .
