What are skip-level meetings and why should you participate in them?

It's not often we get the opportunity to talk to upper management in a freestyle approach. Skip-level meetings allow us to do exactly that. If you're at the working level it, allows you to raise your ideas, thoughts, and concerns to upper management. If you're on the receiving end as a higher-level manager conducting the meetings it gives you insight into what the team members below your management staff truly feel, think, and see. It opens your eyes to their world which might allow for some performance or process improvements or efficiency increases.
