Brent Bellamy is a Winnipeg architect and public advocate who shares his vision on how to create a sustainable city based on building and human focussed design. He writes passionately about this subject, challenging the conventional perception of architectural and urban form. His thoughtful and provoking columns, always anticipated, have appeared in the Winnipeg Free Press since 2010. He explores the connection between design and economic growth, environmental sustainability, civic competitiveness, and quality of life. As the Creative Director of Number Ten Architectural Group, Brent shares his thoughts on what he has learned from his global travels on how design can have a positive impact on important issues such as transit and ending homelessness. In 2019 Brent was recognized by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada’s award for Advocacy for Architecture and Design. During our conversation Brent revealed which building, (one that he did not design) in Winnipeg is his favourite and why.
