Revelation 3:1-6 is a message from Jesus to the church in Sardis, which, despite its reputation for being alive, was spiritually dead. Jesus calls the church to wake up, strengthen what little life remains, remember and hold fast to the gospel, and repent, warning of unexpected judgment. However, He acknowledges a faithful remnant within the church, who have remained pure, and promises them rewards, symbolizing righteousness and victory, the assurance of eternal life, and public acknowledgement before God. The passage serves as both a warning against spiritual complacency and a call to genuine faith and perseverance.
