In the 8th Chapter of 1 Samuel we read that God is going to give into the requests of the Hebrew people…

They have asked for a King like the other nations and though God has provided Priests, Judges and Prophets to lead them…they still want to be like everyone else in the other nations…so they Clamor for a King. This grieves the Judge / Prophet Samuel… and in 1 Samuel 8:7 God tells Samuel…”they have not rejected you, they have reject God…” so in verse 22 God says, “make them a king…”

So a king is chosen…who is taller, handsome, stronger than all the other men of Israel and they choose Saul to be their king…

Man always looks on the outward appearance but God looks on the heart…and we will see why God eventually rejects Saul and God picks David…

The People choose Sauls, God chooses Davids.
