God had given King Ahaziah every opportunity to turn to Him. Even in judgment there was mercy. But instead of seeking the true and living God, Ahaziah chose to inquire of Beelzebub, the false god whose name means "lord of the flies." Through Elijah, God confronted this rejection with a clear message: "Thou shalt surely die."
