A KNOWLEDGE OF GOD

Listen Later

What is one method God uses to give everyone some knowledge of Himself?
Psalms 19:1-4
Romans 1:20
How did Jesus often illustrate His lessons in order to fasten them in the mind of His hearers?
Mark 4:30
Matthew 6:25-36
Mark 4:2-9
Luke 13:6-9
Luke 21:29-31.
What can we learn of God from His care over things of nature?
Luke 12:6,7
Matthew 6:25, 26, 28-30.
Note: God cares for and sustains everything He has created. The same hand that upholds unnumbered worlds a keeps them circling in precise orbits throughout the vast reaches of space, is the very same one that cares for the wants of the tiny, insignificant sparrow! Wherever we are, whatever we do, we are tenderly watched by a loving heavenly Father. When we lie down, when we rise up, when we work, when we eat, God’s care is over us. Not a tear is shed that He does not notice; not a smile given that He does not mark. If we truly believe this, all undue anxiety would be banished. Our lives would not be filled with disappointment- for we would leave everything, large or small, in God’s hands. We would enjoy a peace of mind that few understand.
How completely does God know everything about us?
Psalms 139:1-4.
How does nature help us understand an eternal world and God’s love?
Genesis 1:31;2:1
2 Peter 3:10,13
Revelations 21 and 22
2 Corinthians 2:9
How does the Psalmist describe God’s way of speaking to us through His providential workings in our lives?
Psalms 107:40, 41, 43.
Note: If our hearts and minds are open to understand them, we may see precious lessons of God’s love and care through the circumstances of our daily lives and surroundings.
What help in knowing God did Jesus promise us?
John 16:7, 12, 13.
What is the clearest and most comprehensive way in which God speaks to us about Himself?
1 Corinthians 10:11
2 Timothy 3:16, 17
Hebrews 11.
Of whom does all Scripture-Old and New Testament alike- testify?
John 5:39
Hebrews 1:1,2
John 1:3
Revelation 22:12.
How intense should be our study of God’s word for us?
John 6:53, 52, 63
Note: as our physical bodies are strengthened by the food we eat, so our spiritual lives depend on filling our hearts and minds with the word of God.
What will a sincere study of God’s Word do for us?
Romans 10:17
Note: As we dwell upon the character of our Redeemer- given to us in the Word of God- our faith and love will grow stronger, our prayers will become more acceptable because they will be mixed more and more with faith. We will have a more constant confidence in Jesus as we daily experience His power to save us from sin. The more we see Jesus in the Bible, the more we will want to talk of Him to others.
What will the study of the Scriptures do for our minds?
Psalms 119:130
Note: Nothing will strengthen the intellect more than the earnest study of the Word of God. No other writings can elevate the thoughts and invigorate the mind as can the sacred, ennobling truth of Scripture. If the Bible were to studied as it should be, men and women would posses a breadth of mind and a nobility of character that is rarely seen.
Must we rely on scholars to tell us the meaning of Scripture, or can we understand it for ourselves?
Acts 17:11, 12
What are some important ingredients of successful Bible study?
John 7:17
1 Corinthians 2:14, 15
Isaiah 28:10
James 1:5
How completely has God purposed to give us a knowledge of Himself?
John 16;13-15.
