A Lesson from The Navajo Flood Story: The Role of a Father

Ep. 003 - In this episode we will explore the interesting figures that appear during the flood of the fourth world recorded in Diné Bahané. The two figures are depicted as an old man and a young man who arrive at a crucial moment when the people of the world exhausted every attempt to escape the flood. The relational correspondence of the old man and young man provide a way out by the father's provision of sacred soil and the son's planting of 32 to reeds which reach the next world. There is something to be said about fatherhood in this story and how a Diné father teachings are necessary for his children's eventual service to the their people.
