Jesus has a way of commanding the utmost in devotion. We may start off with little steps, but soon our steps become larger and larger. We begin to realize that we are responding to what Jesus has already done in our lives. In Mark 14 we will explore a level of devotion that was misunderstood by those who stood by and watched. Those who stood by (by-standers) could not understand the reason behind a strong devotion to the Lord.

Consider the devotion that Jesus had for us that led him to the cross. People on the receiving end of such miraculous devotion can hardly just stand by (remain by-standers). Our devotion is a very appropriate response. Jesus is worthy of such devotion. May this lesson in devotion motivate us into a deeper walk with the One who devoted his all to us so that we could receive HIS salvation.
