When I was experiencing secondary infertility after losing our son to miscarriage, there was one line at every Catholic wedding that would leave me feeling empty and broken: “Be fruitful and multiply.” 

It felt like a knife twisting in my heart, and it left me wondering if my infertility meant that my marriage couldn’t be fruitful.
