Where does the love go?
Where does the love go? We join the Kevin and Kylie, in A Line Blurred by Bryan Healey, as they explore their marriage and the life they lead together. We get a minds-eye perspective to what they think about themselves, each other and the people around them. The tale is told in an alternating theme switching between Kevin and Kylie as they both meet new people in their lives and embark down the slippery slope of adultery, ultimately leading to death of the marriage.
I found the story to move smoothly transitioning seamlessly between characters allowing for a greater understanding of how they got to where they are in the story. The characters are well developed and defiantly take on a "humanity" of their own. You will come to like them, hate them, shake your head in disgust, take sides and even feel sorry for them in the mess that is their marriage.
The book evoked quite a bit of emotion in me from my experiences with marriage and found both characters to be frustrating, in fact I was angry by the time I finished the book. This could be because they were both so heart breaking human in their treatment of each other, so much that it makes you just wanted to throttle them both. There were a couple inconsistencies in the story that distracted me, causing me to pause and go wait a minute but they were not so great I was unable to finish. Over all I found Bryan Healey's tale to be a powerful glimpse into a family where the love has faded leaving behind stagnant relationships and heartbreak.
lies you tell yourself
This book was hard for me to rate. I was involved talking to them.'Don't to that or say that. They did not listen to me
It looks into Kevin and kylie's marraiage. they start fighting and talking have the fight in thier heads half the time. Kevin works in a office in town. Kylie a stay at home mom. they have a girl and a boy house in suberbs. Kevin meets Rachel on subway on monday. Same day Kylie' meets chris. You see themselves telling lies and rationalize what they are starting to do
One major little thing that bugged me was when they were talking in thier minds they were always saying we.
the story was well written and made you get involved in thier story. Its easy to make small wrong steps to the big ones.
A Touching Tale of Consequences
As its title evidently suggests, Bryan Healey's debut novel A Line Blurred underlines the bitter consequences of blurring a line that could trigger serious repercussions. With acute details, Healey reiterates that our actions involve consequences that could forever alter the course of our lives. For better or for worse.
Kevin is an executive living a depressed, painfully predictable suburban life frustrated that life didn't quite turn out the way he wanted it to.
