Ohio State officially has a new NIL collective, and two of its leaders join us on this week’s episode of Real Pod Wednesdays to tell us what it’s all about.
Former 97.1 The Fan station manager Todd Markiewicz is the president of The 1870 Society while former Ohio State safety Tyvis Powell is its director of player engagement, and both of them join us for the first part of this week’s show to tell us why they chose to get involved with the new NIL collective and how they believe The 1870 Society can get Ohio State’s NIL efforts where they need to be. (Disclaimer: Eleven Warriors publisher Jason Priestas is a founder and board member of The 1870 Society.)
After that conversation, we turn our focus back to spring football to discuss the latest thing we’ve learned at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center and preview Saturday’s spring game at Ohio Stadium. Later in the show, we discuss Ohio State football’s continuing momentum on the recruiting trail and look at how the Ohio State men’s basketball roster is stacking up with the addition of Minnesota transfer Jamison Battle.
(Note: This episode was recorded on Tuesday afternoon before Payton Pierce’s commitment to the Buckeyes and Ryan Day’s announcement that Devin Brown will not play in the spring game.)
