Are we there yet?

A look back… and forward

Listen Later

Seven days after the conclusion of Project EDWARD’s road safety week of action across the UK, Neil Barrett looks back on the road trips and speaks to:

  • Paul Speight from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue about their high-tech VR vehicle
  • Becky Hadley about media coverage and all things PR, with tips for sponsors and road safety teams
  • Neil Dewson-Smyth about social media, looking at the numbers and exploring where there’s room for improvement

There’s also time to take the temperature of the project as we start looking towards the 2022 campaign.

Project EDWARD (Every Day Without A Road Death) is an annual UK-wide road safety campaign backed by government, the emergency services, highways agencies, road safety organisations and British businesses.

The Campaign, Managed by ARRM and RoadSafe, promotes an evidence-led, ‘safe system’ approach – the long-term objective of which is a road traffic system free from death and serious injury.

Our aim is to provide a platform that showcases some of the best work being done around the country to promote:

  • Safe Vehicles
  • Safe Road Use
  • Safe Speed
  • Safe Roads and Roadsides
  • Post Crash Care
