Steve Phillips wanted to be a doctor since he was a child.  He ended up in Vietnam with the US Army.  He performed surgeries on American troops and Vietnamese civilians.   He tells some stories of what it was really like in Vietnam as a physician.

He later went on to a hugely successful career as a heart surgeon and wrote over 100 articles on medical topics.  He is now retired and living in California.
