Proverbs says this: A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones- Proverbs 17:22

Good medicine?, good medicine means it has no side effects!

it's good wine for the soul, oh don't we all need one in these times?

Guess what? it's also written: 'Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad- Proverbs 12:5

I bring you a goof word!

God gives us a way out, He says: 'To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified'

Wow, wow, wow, 

How do we stir up this oil/gladness if indeed God has given it to us? The Bible teaches that one way is to avoid murmurings ,complaints and docility and instead be full of gratitude and thanks here even in the face of defeat. By this we give room to God's spirit to fill us.

Hear this: 

Do not get drunk with wine, which will only ruin you; instead, be filled with the Spirit. Instead speak to yourself with the words of psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs; sing hymns and psalms to the Lord with praise in your hearts. EPHESIANS 5: 17-18
