In this episode, I continue my rewatch of A Million Little Things with Season 1, Episode 2, “Band of Dads,” originally aired October 3, 2018.

As everyone continues trying to process Jon’s death, we start seeing just how differently his absence is affecting the people he left behind. I talk about Sophie’s determination to go through with the father-daughter recital, Rome beginning to confront what happened the night Jon died, Maggie’s approach to her cancer returning, the increasingly complicated situation between Eddie and Delilah, and Gary trying to be there for just about everyone.

I also get into some of the smaller character moments, the formation of the “Band of Dads,” what this episode starts establishing about the friend group, and some of the writing choices that worked better for me than others.

As always, these are just my own thoughts and interpretations as I revisit a show I love. This is a rewatch podcast, but I’ll try to stay within the episode being discussed and avoid spoiling what comes later.
