I find that the creative and purpose-based types resist writing business plans for a few reasons:

 

• they don’t enjoy the process
• they have decision fatigue
• they have analysis paralysis
• they are confused until they just give up
• they think there is a universal business plan out there that they have to do ‘right’
• they don’t know how to create drafts that adjust as they adjust 

So, when I work with clients, I do something totally different. I listen to their stories and their dreams. Their goals and why they’re excited. 

 

THAT is what I use to build my Visual Business Plans.  

 

Here’s what it accomplishes:

 

• It builds off of my clients’ natural energy 
• It highlights their uniqueness within the industry
• It makes the future clear (and bright)
• It helps them take intentional action (that they like taking)
• It helps them make money
• It gives them confidence
• It conveys their vision (and confidence) to potential investors / customers / collaborators
• It gets them moving in the right direction
