Our world is one living organism, built on systems and institutions. As the gatekeepers of planet earth, humans have created a multitude of systems, including food, healthcare, education, military, banking, and more, as a means to evolve and thrive. Like the nervous system is to the human body, these man-made systems are the mechanism of our well-being and success as a human race.
These systems are all deeply interconnected with one another and each rely on the other to sustain health. When one fails, another may have to compensate. When multiple fail, the organism becomes stressed and, ultimately, dies.
Many of us have known, or at least have felt, that something isn’t quite right with the way we are operating today. Through this podcast, I adopt a beginner’s mind and explore the complexities of each of the topics listed previously to understand where we are now and where we are going.
Throughout this series, you may pick up on a common theme here, and this is- the corruption and faults of these systems generally lead back to two factors: profits and power.
I’m not an activist or a revolutionary, but I am curious to understand how we can all work together to create better and healthier systems and I believe that we are ultimately all personally responsible for nurturing them back to health. Through these important conversations, we can understand what it takes to create new systems, and ultimately, a new paradigm.
