This episode is about the Italian Hall Disaster and the strike between the Western Federation of Mine Workers and the Calumet & Hecla Mining Company in Calumet, Michigan.

The disaster happened on Christmas Eve 1913, left 73 people dead, 60 of whom were children, was popularized by Woody Guthrie in the song 1913 Massacre.
