What happens when the Lord begins to shine His light on who we really are inwardly?

As a young Christian, I read something about being magnanimous that caused the Lord's light to shine intensely on my own heart. For the first time, I began seeing things within myself that left me deeply discouraged.

Then an older brother gave me a simple illustration: "You're a little dinosaur." His words helped me understand something I needed to see - the Lord loved me before I became aware of these things about myself, and knowing them did not mean He loved me any less.

The Lord's love for us is intense, but He must also shine. He shows us what we are inwardly so that we can be saved from what we are.

Can a prayer you made years ago still come back to you?

In 1975, while struggling to make ends meet, I asked the Lord to give me a good job and promised that I would give Him my entire first week's pay cheque. When the job I eventually found paid only slightly above minimum wage, I thanked the Lord but decided it wasn't really the "good job" I had prayed for.

Four years later, after returning to school and receiving an unexpectedly good offer as a computer programmer, I received my first pay cheque and thanked the Lord. Then He reminded me of the prayer and promise I had made years earlier.

I hadn't put a time limit on my vow. That experience taught me a lesson I would remember: be careful how I pray and how I ask.

What does it mean for me to truly follow Christ?

When I was very young in the Lord, I had a dream in which the Lord appeared to me. I ran to Him and hugged Him, but He did not respond. He simply turned and began walking away. In that dream, I understood that He was calling me to follow Him.

That dream has remained with me for a very long time. To this day, I am still following Him.

For me, following Christ means following Him without regard for emotion, thought, feeling, or my own choices. It means following the living Christ, not a religion.

That dream was the Lord's call to me. He called me to follow.

After coming to know the Lord, I had one question I could not answer: Why was God leaving me on earth instead of taking me to heaven?

Although I loved Jesus and knew I was saved, I still didn't understand why I was here. I began hitchhiking across the country, and my journey eventually brought me to South Florida, where an unexpected encounter led me to a Christian gathering in Coconut Grove.

There, I began to see something deeper in myself. I realised that although I was saved, I still needed inward transformation. Through my experience with other believers, I began to understand what God wanted me to do on earth.

This is my testimony of salvation, transformation, Christian fellowship, and discovering God's purpose for my life.

How did I go from atheism to Christ?

In this personal testimony, I share my journey from growing up in an Italian Catholic family, experiencing devastating personal loss, and eventually walking away from faith into atheism, then to searching for truth and encountering God in a way that changed my life forever.

This is an honest story of doubt, questions, brokenness, and the unexpected moments where God’s grace met me. Through my journey, I discovered that Jesus was not just an idea or a belief system, but the One who brought hope, purpose, and transformation into my life.
