We are told to rejoice in hope: "Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer." Rom. 12:12. Today we have a hope-filled discussion on the theme of Christ's coming to earth as a baby and then having lived a perfect life, and then being the sinless Savior who died for us. Jesus came as a weak and helpless babe, dependent on a mother and father. The Hebrew name Emmanuel literally means God is with us. The world has been irreversibly changed by the coming of Jesus Christ. Can you imagine what the world would be like, if Christ had not come? The repercussions are huge - even affecting medicine, science, law, economics, etc. Someday, things will be wrapped up. Advent has both a long look and a shorter look.
