We celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus' whole life from entering into the world, living in this life, appearance in the temple and finally the last several years of His life - all pointed to the cross. Luther said that when Jesus died, He died the world's greatest sinner. Jesus prayer of let this cup pass from me, was not an answered prayer! Jesus experienced dread and carried the sins of the world. Jesus' suffering was unique because of the weight and load of the sins of the world. C. S. Lewis captures the demon's rejoicing as having killed Aslan. And yet, He comes back to life! 1 Cor. 15 begins with a creed - This is the gospel
"Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to youunless you believed in vain.
For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep. After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time." The early disciples didn't make it up - they did not expect a resurrection! At first they did not believe it happened. Jesus Christ is RISEN. He is RISEN INDEED! Participants: Dr. John Vance, Dan Elmendorf
