The gospel is a miracle of practical hope. It is hope because the gospel nurtures us in a reality that is not of this world. All who belong to Christ have been taken out of this world. We have been removed from Adam's heritage. We now have our heritage in Christ.

God's Word can now be used as leverage to move us more and more toward the change that is the very best for us. Now we can be exhorted: "As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: 'Be holy, for I am holy'" (1 Peter 1:14-16). This is a practical hope for a change in our lives that we could not put into practice before. However, now we can.
